IN OFFICE OF COUNCILLOR

SHILLINGSTONE PARISH

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN

Pursuant to Section 87(2) of the Local Government Act 1972, that Richard
White has ceased to be a Member of the Parish Council, and that a vacancy
now exists in the office of Councillor for the Parish Council.
If within 14 days after the date of this notice (i.e. no later than 3 July, 2026), a
request for an election to fill the vacancy is made either in writing to the
Returning Officer, Electoral Services, Dorset Council, County Hall, Dorchester,
Dorset, DT1 1XJ or by email to elections@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk by TEN
electors for the Parish, an election will be held to fill the vacancy, otherwise the
vacancy will be filled by co-option.
If an election is called, it will take place not later than 7 September 2026.

Parish Clerk – Shillingstone

Parish Clerk required for Shillingstone Parish Council, mainly working from home, 12 hours a week. The job gives great flexibility as to when the hours are worked.

The successful applicant will be required to provide professional support and guidance in respect of all aspects of the Council’s work including acting as the Council’s Responsible Financial Officer. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person with good interpersonal, verbal, written and IT skills, ideally with some experience, although a full handover will be given by the current Clerk. The Clerk will be required to attend monthly Parish Council meetings which are usually held on the first Thursday of each month (no meeting in August).

The successful candidate will either have, or be prepared to obtain within a reasonable timescale, the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) qualification. Salary scale is LC2 (18-32) currently between £ 16.35 to £ 22.20 per hour, depending on experience.
